Cancer is a serious disease that remains one of the leading causes of death in our world.

In recent years, progress in diagnosis and treatment (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, transplantation, research, etc.) has raised the survival rate to around 65-70%.

Affected people and their families face not only the challenge of survival and the harshness of the treatments, but also many problems in everyday life: educational, social, emotional, economic, etc.

A.F.O.L. (Asociación de Familias Oncohematológicas de Lanzarote) is a non-profit association, created in 2001 by a group of parents who have gone through and are going through the experience of having a child with cancer. Once recognised as such, we extended our scope of action to adults, who today make up a significant number in our community.

We want to provide cancer patients and their families with the psychological, social, educational, economic (special cases) and home help support necessary to care for the patient and their families in the best possible conditions.

A.F.O.L. supports children, adults and their families in the hospital from the time of diagnosis until their full social, occupational or educational integration, and whenever the family needs it.

Since its creation, AFOL has been growing day by day with the support of members, collaborators and the work of professionals, with the satisfaction of seeing that, year after year, we are becoming stronger as an association.
